Nestled in the foothills of Vitosha Mountain, Bistritsa House is a single-family residence that gracefully follows the natural slope of the terrain—opening up to both serene mountain views and the distant cityscape.
With a total area of 350 square meters, the home unfolds across two main levels and a semi-level entrance, designed in harmony with the topography and orientation of the site. The architecture combines clean contemporary lines with warm, natural materials—white plaster, natural stone, wood cladding, and metal detailing. Floor-to-ceiling glazing and cantilevered terraces invite light and landscape into the interior, creating a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces.
Positioned to embrace the mountain to the west, the house allows the surrounding nature to become part of the living experience. A generous, thematically landscaped yard with soft lawns, mature trees, and stone pathways adds to the calm, grounded atmosphere—offering a modern yet deeply connected home in one of Sofia’s most scenic neighborhoods.

Designed to inspire and connect, this residence draws its identity from the beauty of its natural setting—framed by a nearby lake and shaped by the steep contours of the terrain. The architecture embraces these defining elements, turning them into key features of the experience.
The main entrance is positioned on the upper level, taking full advantage of the elevation to reveal panoramic lake views from the very first step inside. In contrast, the lower floor is nestled into the slope, where the bedrooms sit quietly among the surrounding trees—offering a feeling of comfort, intimacy, and retreat.
The house is both grounded and open—designed not to dominate the landscape, but to belong to it. Through careful orientation, natural materials, and thoughtful spatial flow, the project creates a serene and inspiring living environment shaped by its context.

Designed for a compact 200-square-meter plot, these row houses are reflecting to the constraints of urban living. The design centers around a modest internal courtyard, which serves as both a spatial anchor and a passive light source—mediating the transition between zones while enhancing natural ventilation and interior brightness.
The architectural strategy embraces linearity and continuity, using the narrow site to its advantage. An open yet controlled floor plan ensures uninterrupted visual connections across the main living spaces. A restrained palette—featuring hardwood, corten steel and stone—supports the overall sense of calm and permanence. Finishes are tactile and durable, chosen for their ability to age gracefully over time.
Despite its compact footprint, the residence feels expansive and serene, defined by precision, proportion, and a deep respect for material integrity. It offers a compelling model for contemporary urban housing that is both modest and richly atmospheric.

The multifunctional building brings together mixed uses—residential units, commercial areas, and office spaces. Its central location within the urban fabric calls for an expressive and unconventional design. This is achieved through the two-story garden on the second level, open to the intersection. The lush greenery stands out against the copper cladding that defines the building’s volume. The facade design of the upper floors ensures added privacy for the residential units facing the busy boulevards, while the simple, light-toned facades overlooking the inner courtyard create a sense of harmony and calm.

The new Karin Dom building is a project where function and aesthetics come together to reflect the specific needs of children, their families, and the organization’s staff. The design prioritizes open spaces, abundant natural light, and the integration of as much vegetation as possible.
The rich greenery of the surroundings inspires the project to preserve and extend this natural character. Gardens and plants are incorporated into the building’s interior and rooftop, offering a thoughtful response to the trees that had to be removed. A spacious backyard, low building height, and generous openings in all directions allow the structure to engage respectfully with its urban context.
Preserving the atmosphere of the existing park landscape is essential. This naturally leads to choices such as a wooden façade and lush greenery as primary design elements. A playful, almost fairytale-like aesthetic adds a final touch to the composition. Varied wall and ceiling openings allow daylight to flood the common areas, gently illuminating all treatment and care zones throughout the building.

The aim of the proposed intervention is to bring renewed attention to the Thermal Baths of Curinga, without engaging in direct physical contact with the ruins. The concept operates on a principle level—surrounding and sheltering the site rather than altering it.
The project develops along two main directions: offering new visual perspectives of the ruins and enhancing their presence through the controlled use of natural light. A central circular opening in the structure allows sunlight to highlight the historic core, while the shaded path surrounding it creates a calm, contemplative experience for visitors. This interplay of light and shadow reinforces the contrast, making the ancient remains more striking from both near and far.
The gentle slope of the ramp and the inclined roof open up the view toward the baths, placing them at the center of a neutral, ethereal architectural frame. This contrast draws attention to the original textures and materials of the site, particularly the exposed brickwork.
Positioned adjacent to the ruins, the circular form invites exploration from different angles and elevations. Its highest point also offers views toward the surrounding landscape. Two approaches—one from the south via a nearby road and another from the east following the natural terrain—provide varied ways to engage with the site. Together, they enrich the visitor’s journey while preserving and celebrating the historical value of the Thermal Baths of Curinga.
